The "But God" Perspective

When the skies are dark and gloomy with rainy clouds, we know the sun will shine again. When night comes, we know the sun will rise in the morning. The sun never goes away. It is always guaranteed to be there and to rise everyday.

It's the same in our personal lives and in the lives of those we love. When darkness, difficulties and challenges occur, there is a light that guarantees to shine and overcome every day and every moment. That is the light of Christ as we read in John‬ ‭8:12‬ where Jesus said,

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

We also have the guaranteed promise that God will never leave us nor forsake us as we read in Hebrews‬ ‭13:5‭-‬6‬,

"God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.”

And we read more promises in ‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:10‬,

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

With these promises, we can confidently change our perspective about any hardship, concern or cloudy moment by adding the phrase "but God"... For example:

I am lacking funds, but God will provide. I am suffering a loss, but God will comfort. I am worried, but God has it in his hands. I am sad, but God will encourage. I am scared, but God will strengthen. This is a big problem, but God is bigger. But God is stronger. But God is wiser. But God always wins. But God will see this through.

Whatever the clouds in our day... if we overlay it with "but God", it immediately changes our perspective and paints a whole new picture covered in the shining light of assurance, peace, rest, confidence and victory.
