Ray Stevens - "Sergeant Preston Of The Yukon" (Official Audio)

On this date in 1955, the CBS television show "Sergeant Preston Of The Yukon" debuted. The program follows a Canadian Mountie named Sgt. Preston who patrols the wilds of the Yukon with his horse Rex and faithful dog Yukon King, battling both the elements & criminals. Ray's very first hit single (or an "almost hit" as he now refers to it) of the same name was released later in 1960 and was about the show. It even included Ray barking and howling as Preston's dog! Unfortunately, Ray had not gotten the rights for the character and they were forced to pull the song from release. Here is the original version of Ray's first "almost" hit!
