The adaptable ocelot usually keeps hidden in the undergrowth, protecting their territory by communications, vocalizations, scent marking, and visual displays. They have litters of 2-3 kittens after a gestation period of 70 days. Ocelot kittens are sheltered in a den by their mother who takes care of them for up to 2 years. After that they go out on their own home range where they live their own way. Most people can only see them in zoos.
