Mortal Kombat 1

Mortal Kombat 1 is a fighting video game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. It was released on September 19, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and Windows. Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot of the Mortal Kombat series.

After ceasing support for Mortal Kombat 11, NetherRealm Studios revealed that it was working on a new project in July 2021. Johnny Cage voice actor Andrew Bowen indicated that the twelfth installment was in development in a hastily deleted tweet.

On May 18, 2023, NetherRealm Studios announced Mortal Kombat 1 with a release date of September 19, 2023. It is a reboot of the series and is set in the New Age timeline created by Liu Kang after he achieved godhood in Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019. NetherRealm Studios also announced that those who pre-order any PS5 and Xbox Series version of the game before launch will also receive access to a beta in August, and after the game launches, NetherRealm will provide cross- play and cross-progression.
