Did you know that many people mistake the application of myrcene as being a sedative in all cannabis?
Actually Myrcene is one of the most variable Terpenes in cannabis, changing the effect it has on the synergistic experience of cannabis via it's potency, interaction with THC, dependence on its presence and level in sativa or indica, and the relevancy of it being paired with Beta Caryophyllene.
Beta Caryophyllene is a key to understanding Myrcene and the true Sedative nature of Myrcene. Myrcene helps to intensify the sedation implemented by beta Caryophyllene often seen as prominent or dominant in an indica. When trans Caryophyllene is present not beta Caryophyllene (trans is a form of BETA Caryophyllene and the most common form both in cannabis as well as in all of nature) the immediacy of the potency of onset isnt as intense and tends to present more of a creeper onset tha the immediate smack sedation of beta caryophyllene.
Myrcene at extensively heightened levels can cause reaction rather than on CB2 receptors which happens when beta Caryophyllene is present in either form, Myrcene on its own tends to proliferate THC across the blood brain barrier to attach and activate cb1 receptors causing the freak out effect of Sativas.
Many people who take a tolerance break suffer from anxiety and paranoia.provocation when they start smoking again. In my Terpological analysis I believe this is relative to Myrcene. Those heightened levels in Today's cannabis can cause that proliferation of THC, especially and even in an indica where beta Caryophyllene or trans Caryophyllene is much lower than Myrcene. The more Myrcene the more freak out is onset. But as we know one builds a plateauing tolerance (pleateus imo) and simply reacquainting the body with those extensively manipulated levels.using for example, a sativa containing an anxiolytic Terpene like linalool, or a sativa with Beta Caryophyllene so it's more relaxing and has an acoustic effect to its freaky out effect.
