Mom Toying With Her Chick

Some parents can just seem mean, even a bit cruel to their offspring. This appears to be a Black Skimmer female bringing a small fish to her chick and just toying with it. She offers the meal to the chick and when the chick tries to grab it, the female pulls it away. Over and over this game continued until Mom finally ate it herself. The young chick runs back to Dad for protection and throws sand in Mom’s face as she appears to show aggression toward the chick.
