One key issue I'll address is the stark contrast between TikTok in China, its country of origin, and the United States. While the Chinese version imposes time limits and focuses on positive and educational content, the US version promotes degenerate behavior that negatively impacts our children's attention spans and academic performance.

Furthermore, the app has now assumed the authority of dictating popular music, as a Chinese-developed application influences the music our children consume. This poses a significant problem by shifting the criteria for mainstream music success from talent to mere TikTok popularity. Unbeknownst to us, this agenda might be detrimental to our wellbeing, subtly shaping our preferences to align with what is not in our best interest.

The rise of TikTok has also given rise to misinformation, particularly regarding issues that directly concern us and our communities. Consequently, we find ourselves outraged and protesting without possessing a complete understanding of the pertinent stories. Additionally, TikTok has faced accusations of data mining for the Chinese government, causing concerns about our privacy and security.

Before deciding to delete my TikTok app, I experienced a series of setbacks with multiple accounts. Despite sharing thought-provoking content, my first account was shadowbanned, followed by a ban on my second account, and eventually, my third account faced another bout of shadow banning. It is crucial for us to raise awareness about the adverse effects this app has on our community and culture.
