Russia's Next Target is Georgia: to Establish Naval Base in Georgia!

The Ukraine-Russia war continues to witness a series of escalating developments in the region. Most recently, Russia's plans to establish a naval base on the Black Sea coast in Abkhazia, one of Georgia's occupied territories and not internationally recognized.
This news came to light after a meeting between the leader of the "Republic of Abkhazia" Aslan Bzhania and Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Bzhania, an agreement was signed on the establishment of a permanent naval base in the Ochamchire region of Abkhazia.
"We have signed an agreement and in the near future there will be a permanent base of the Russian Navy in the Ochamchire region," Bzhania said. He noted that the purpose of this development is to increase the defense capabilities of Russia and Abkhazia and that this cooperation will continue, but declined to elaborate on specific issues.
This move could further complicate the already complicated status of Abkhazia. With the potential to increase tensions in the region, the naval base plan could increase uncertainty over the future of Abkhazia, which is still not recognized as part of Georgia by the majority of the international community.
Earlier, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili noted that the Russian Federation continues to occupy 20 percent of his country's territory.
