Glenn McCrory is CLEARED of sexual assault charges brought by waitresses after court ruled he used the word 'pet' as a 'term of endearment'.

For some parts of the UK ‘Pet’ is used by people to talk to others. Indeed in Yorkshire you will find people use ‘Love’ to talk to others.

One wonders if the police and courts understood ‘pet’ is used such a way, rather than the need to prosecute.

For an average person, one suspects you would be encouraged to plead guilty to sexual assault and get no prison time, but a few years on the sex register or risk years in prison.

I myself have known somone who basically was told admit to sexual assault and do no prison but take a few years on a sex register or go to prison. Many people will opt for a guilty plea rather than risk prison. And so one suspect that we have people who are innocent having no option but to plead guilty.

Of course those with money can afford to fight the case.

I myself was told take a caution rather than risk prison for having a tiny pocket knife. It was illegal apparently because it locked. However as I used it for work, I had a legit reason to have it. However given the option of risking five years in prison or a caution that had no effect on me, I took the caution. As I left the police station, one of the police said I should have gone to court, but I just could not be bothered with the grief or risk.

I say this story as if you ever read somone has admitted guilt to a crime, it may not be because they are guilty, but because they cannot afford to fight it in court and admitting guilt is an easy option.

This also helps bump up the stats for the police to show high rate in convictions.

When saying ‘pet’ becomes a method to claim sexual assault it makes the crime silly and so when you read police are investigating sexual assault on a person, then it could be no more than because somone used a word that some left wing lady in a council meeting has concluded as sexist.
