Deputy Sheriff Tucker Blakely succumbed to injuries sustained from gunshot wounds while answering a domestic violence call at the 3200 block of Denver Lane in Knoxville. At around 11:30 p.m., upon arrival, deputies were met by an armed individual. The confrontation quickly escalated, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Deputy Blakely was critically injured, having been shot twice. Though deputies returned fire, killing the armed individual, the harm to Deputy Blakely proved too severe. First responders rushed him to the UT Medical Center, where he remained on life support to facilitate organ donation. Deputy Blakely, a respected United States Army veteran, had loyally served the Knox County Sheriff's Office for two years. He leaves behind a grieving family, including his wife, a young son, and a brother.
