Leaders in the House of Representatives got an unclassified briefing on the developing situation in Israel at 8 p.m. Sunday night, per a source familiar. Just one hour later, Senate leaders got their own briefing from the Biden administration. During the call with House leadership, the White House confirmed that four Americans were killed in Israel over the weekend, Ben Siegel of ABC reported, adding that Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), speaker pro tempore, was on the call.

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) said he would "fully support" a subpoena of Hunter Biden should he be elected as the next House speaker.
While appearing on Sunday Morning Futures, Jordan vowed that investigations into President Joe Biden and the alleged cover-up by federal agencies, including the IRS and FBI, will continue if he is elected as House speaker and must then leave his role as Judiciary chairman.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) scoffed at the idea that ousting Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as speaker would negatively impact him. Gaetz appeared on Meet the Press on Sunday to be peppered with questions by host Kristen Welker on the fallout following Democratic House members and eight Republican members voting to vacate McCarthy as speaker. The Florida representative filed the motion to vacate McCarthy and rallied support for his cause. Welker asked Gaetz if he was at all worried about his job security as a result.
