Karen Siegemund learned from her family that our rights and freedoms cannot be taken for granted, but can be taken away, as they were from her father who grew up in Hitler’s Germany. Little by little, the erosion of freedoms. So she has always known how important it is to take action early on, to do what one can. That has led to many actions - and to not being rehired for a comment made away from school. She is not about to give up. She has a commitment to truth, to courage (because what is truth without courage), to taking action. Just do something!
