Born in Jamaica, I grew up in a world where we didn't realize our poverty because it was all around us. Running barefoot, hunting with slingshots, playing marbles - that was our reality. 🇯🇲👣

While iPads rule today's world, we came from a different era. My passion? Reading and academics, not sports. From topping my high school to college, my journey was clear. But then, I took a leap of faith, betting on myself and choosing America over med school. 📚✈️

My mom, like any loving parent, was worried. But sometimes, introducing our dreams to loved ones can be challenging. They might not see our vision, not because they don't believe in us, but because they can't fathom the possibilities. If I'd listened to those fears, I wouldn't be where I am today, and neither would my mom. 💪🏾

Remember, sometimes you have to bet on yourself, even when the world can't see your vision. Because it's YOUR dream, not theirs.
