Democrats Eat their Own

Before the dust has even settled in the Middle East, the fallout is reaching dangerous levels of discord within America’s Democrat party. Once the party of “peace-niks” and “love-ins,” Democrats now find themselves pandering to various constituencies. They include Jewish voters, Islamic fundamentalists and wild-eyed progressives, socialists, anarchists, and even the long-despised military/industrial complex.
How did they ever fit them all these competing interests under one big tent? And can the pegs still hold as we approach the 2024 election?
It’s gotten so bad that White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre attacked members of the ultra-progressive Congressional “Squad” for demanding an end of US government support for Israel. Pierre called their comments, “wrong,” “repugnant,” and “disgraceful.” In their statements, Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush renounced Israel’s “military occupation,” and labeled Israel an “apartheid government.”
For her part, Squad member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez simply called for an immediate cease-fire to stop the killing on both sides, an act akin to asking America to accept a ceasefire the day after Pearl Harbor. But when Democrat Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts adopted a similar position in his weekend address to a pro-Israel group in his home state, his voice was drowned out by a chorus of boos, and he temporarily halted the speech. The senator seemed genuinely confused by the degree of opposition that came from the crowd.
The Bible nailed it again, as Paul wrote in I Corinthians 14:8, “For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle?”
It is sad to recognize that America’s lack of morality is equaled only by its lack of clear leadership.
