Vunerability is a True Badge of Courage

Vulnerability is one of our greatest strengths. Without it, relationships remain surface level and lack any depth.

That being said, vulnerability within any relationship can be very scary. It's not always easy for us to tell others how we feel or what might be going on with us. But without vulnerability, how can there be true communication?

I think vulnerability can be frightening because we're not always sure how the other person is going to take what we say. There is always the chance that they will not hear us, or become defensive and justify their actions. Or, that they will judge us and shame us for what we are being vulnerable about.

However, if someone truly loves us or really cares about the relationship, they will hear us. Or, they will do what they can to support us or change a behavior if it is hurting us in some way. If someone is not willing to change or hear us, then perhaps more help is required.

It is just as equally important that we hold space for those people in our lives that are vulnerable with us. We must pay the same respect that we expect from others. I would question any relationship where someone is not able to be vulnerable back.

Remember, if something needs to change within a relationship, it is up to us to initiate that open communication with the other party. And if somebody initiates with you, it is up to us to receive them with an open heart.

Believe in yourself. You can do it!!!
