Iron sights remain a good option but there is no disadvantage by first learning to shoot with optics. Some people in the gun world claim iron sights must always be used first, but there is NO data or proof demonstrating this is true. Learning marksmanship and developing a Shot Process doesn't require a specific sight to be used.
