The Scapegoat of Yom Kippur

This idea of a scapegoat that takes away the sins of the guilty is the root cause of much evil in the world. Because it allows guilty people to believe that their actions can be forgiven through some form of sacrifice. Of course, many bad people use this to mask their actual crimes behind such a mechanism of atonement. Christians get pulled into the scam because they see Christ as the ultimate scapegoat, which causes them to accept such a ridiculous notion. That behavior can be transferred to an innocent party, and the guilty are never punished.
