In this video we discuss what the basal ganglia does for the cortex of the brain, and how it has and excitatory role and an inhibitory role, and these function somewhat separately on each side of the brain. We discuss the difference between the BG, the cerebral cortex and the cerebellum functionally. The BG is several linked relays that yearn to help the brain either fire up or be quiet, and these have symptoms that can be understood.
