June 8, 1967 - Israel deliberately attacked the USS Liberty, a US ship in international waters, in an effort to kill everyone on board, blame the act on another country, and drag the US into a war.

The USS Liberty incident was an attack on a United States Navy technical research ship (spy ship), USS Liberty, by Israeli Air Force jet fighter aircraft and Israeli Navy motor torpedo boats. The combined air and sea attack killed 34 crew members (naval officers, seamen, two marines, and one civilian NSA employee), wounded 171 crew members, and severely damaged the ship.

One man risked his life to go out on the top deck, while the Liberty was being attacked, and install a functional communication antenna allowing messaged to be relayed. Once the Liberty sent out a message to US support, the attacks stopped. The only person to be jailed for the attack was an Israeli pilot who refused orders to attack the ship. The conspiracy goes all the way up to President LBJ.
