Phantom Culture - Hipbilly, Song No.05 (Bluegrass)

Barefoot poet-bards strumming their way through tender Buffalo grass, a central campfire's flickering flames illuminate happy faces gathered around their covered wagons, enraptured. Fast-forward, say, 150 years but the authenticity, grass-roots appeal of this robust duo is as fresh as the prairie that time long ago.

Hipbilly
1. One half Hippy, one half Hillbilly. High energy accoustic music performed at break-neck speed, with melodies and chord progressions that call to mind everything from bluegrass to Dixieland standards.
2. (adjective) Used in the description of a place where hipbillies live, frequent or have otherwise manifested as their own, like: coffeehouses, bars, folk festivals, college concerts...

Hipbilly could be described as a synthesis of elements - half hippie/half country - and filtered through a state of originality, arriving at a melodic state that can be inspiring, fanciful, dramatic. Think: people dancing in the moonlight on a vast prairie - probably bare-footed if Michael had his way - that kind of open-air mentality.
