According to a senior State Department official, both the Israeli and Egyptian governments have reached an agreement to permit American citizens to travel from Gaza into Egypt on Saturday between noon and 5 p.m. local time. The U.S. government has been in discussions with officials from Israel and Egypt regarding the safe passage of American citizens and other foreigners out of Gaza through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt. These negotiations come in light of the ongoing Israeli airstrikes and escalating concerns about the potential intensification of the conflict with Hamas.
