Man GOUGES OUT HIS EYES to Postpone Execution???

Dude clearly has some issues. But that brings about a whole list of legal questions. Can Texas still give him the needle, or is his current mental illness going to spare his life? I can't imagine what could go through a person's mind to make them take their own eyes out.
