骨質疏鬆症 全球第2大流行病

骨質疏鬆症狀大多不明顯,但隨著年齡增長,可就要多留意了,長者若突然用力過猛或不小心閃到腰,很可能進而導致骨折,影響日常生活。根據統計,停經的婦女是罹患骨質疏鬆症的高危險族群,女性從更年期開始,由於雌性激素分泌急速減少,導致骨質快速流失,更嚴重的是髖部骨折,提醒女性不得不注意。
全球人口高齡化,骨質疏鬆症已被世界衛生組織認定為「全球第二大流行疾病」,僅次於冠狀動脈心臟病。台灣婦產科蔡永杰醫師指出,女性本身骨質就比男性來的差,其中又以停經後的婦女風險更高,停經後賀爾蒙降低,體內骨質急遽流失,也因此容易造成骨質疏鬆症,而女性壽命又比男性長,以老年人比較,女性骨折風險自然高於男性。
雖然骨質疏鬆不會立即致命,但堪稱老人殺手的「髖部骨折」,根據統計,65歲以上老人髖部骨折1年內死亡機率高達14%至36%,比罹癌死亡機率還要高,相當恐怖。
骨質疏鬆除了長者外,部分人有先天性因子,也應多加防範,專家提醒,8類人具有骨質疏鬆先天因子,包括「女性、身材纖細骨架小、年紀大、有家族史、早發性停經、月經失調、神經性厭食或貪食症、亞洲人或白種人」;另外5類則是後天因為飲食等不良習慣導致,像是「鈣質攝取不足、缺少運動、抽菸、飲酒過量、過量咖啡」。因此建議骨質疏鬆高危險族群,在飲食方面多食用富含鈣質的食品,例如乳類製品、小魚乾、豆類食品等,多運動、曬太陽,或適時補充鈣質及維生素D,這些都有助於增進骨質密度。
