Hey Butter,

At first I wasn't going to come to this (surgery prepping) but I'm glad I popped my head in.

Quite a few years ago, I looked for belonging in a place that never wanted me in the first place, but pretended they did on the surface level. Every weekend on Labor Day, I'm reminded of the anniversary sting. Just to join other orgs a little bit down the road to realize that they were not safe places to be either.

I have a tendency to go to events on my own (only child here, I do have friends, but I crave my alone time). And for many reasons I'm not gonna discuss here, I keep a safe distance from most people (and I don't trust easily). Thank you for cultivating an loving and inclusive environment. I still don't look to fit in anywhere, nor am I begging for acceptance. But at the core, all of us humans want to feel valued or appreciated on some level, even if we do spend a lot of time by ourselves.

When I saw the Butter Art sign, I was like this a safe place. Even if there's moments where I am invisible (because I am in the bathroom or something haha,) I'm in a protective environment. I'm not getting married or having kids. So thank you for being my celebration (my closest thing to a ceremony of love). The artwork is like the adopted kids-nieces-nephews I never knew I had. And the people are extended family members.

Gang Gang & Butter is the best thing that's happened to Indy in a LONG time. I can't wait to see all the great impact that you make in Indy, worldwide and in the culture for years to come. (And also I decided to distance myself from Indy, but Gang Gang is one of the few reasons I would pop my head in the city).

See you at Butter 3 (And if the surgeries go into Butter 3, definitely Butter 4). I only made it to one day, and for future Butters, I will attend more days.
