A whole litter of 1 month old baby kittens left to die beside a fast flowing aquaduct. We were there to try to trap a two month old frightened kitten from the previous night, and as we got ready with the trap we could hear a kitten screaming. One of them was already in the water and as he came into view he was frantically trying to hold on to some algae on the side of the duct. I was just about to get my feet wet to grab him but managed to get my hands on him before he was swept away again. then, of course, time to look UPSTREAM - 4 siblings sitting right on the edge of the aquaduct, with nowhere to go but fall DOWN and two were about to slip in. Thankfully they were not afraid and just let me scoop them all up.

Because I was setting up the trap 100m away - my bike helmet was with the trap and therefore the camera also. So no footage of the drama except when I got back to the bike to get him dry and warm. They are doing well now - but catching them was a matter of shear luck and there is no doubt that all of them would have drowned if we hadn't been there. Only 15 minutes from UNESCO's listed Prambanan Temple - I am done with tradition and culture tonight!!
