If Jesus is the Prince of Peace, why would war signal his return? (Matthew 24:7-8)

In Isaiah 9:6, Jesus Christ, amongst other things, was considered to be the "Prince of Peace". Yet, he told his disciples in Matthew 24:7-8 that his return would be signalled by wars across the world.

What is the connection between these two? How can the reign of a Peaceful Prince be full of conflict?
