Killzone: Shadow Fall (PS4) Gameplay -No Commentary- | Uncapped framerate | PS4 Pro Boost Mode |

So I finally got a PS4 10 years too late, and I figured that if I'm going to jump into the PS4 library this late, I'm going to get the PS4 Pro (with 2 TB storage) which is what I did. I know I could have just bought a PS5 which will play PS4 games better, however, the $250 I saved by buying the Pro instead of the PS5 will be spend on buying games instead.

As far as Killzone Shadow Fall is concerned, I just got the game in yesterday, and I played it all the way to Last Stand where I have rage quit. Lol. I definitely like the new direction the series took here. I still love the old Killzone titles, but I appreciate Shadow Fall's attempt to take the series into a new, more openly designed direction. Instead of pulling players through a tunnel FPS with large, overdone set pieces à la Call of Duty, Guerilla Games went with a more open/exploration based design with smaller battle skirmishes in between. There are still some scripted set-piece scenes, but they are downplayed more, and not nearly as over the top as the past games attempted to be.

It's almost like they said, let Call of Duty do the Call of Duty thing, we'll try and do something new. I do like the new direction the game took, even if it sometimes leads to large open areas that are empty in places. As a launch title, I get the feeling like they wanted to add more to the game, but were rushed to get it out by launch. Graphically, the game still looks beautiful. The art direction in the game is still nice to look at.

The game doesn't run great, but there is a 30 FPS framerate cap option for those who don't like framerate variations. I personally, don't know which mode I prefer. I do have boost mode on, but it only seems to marginally improve the framerate according to Digital Foundry. I know the PS5 will run this game at a smooth 60 fps, but I wanted to experience games on the original hardware (well, the PS4 Pro that is), and save the extra money. I'll get a PS5 later. Right now, I have 10 years of gaming to catch up on.

NOTE: I recorded this at 1080p and upscaled to 4K in my editing software as I have neither a 4K TV, nor a 4K capture card. Super Sampling is on as well. I also don't have an HDR capable screen.
