Hidden Doorway in New York City
13
Hidden inside the Times Square subway hub there's a doorway that reads "Knickerbocker". This used to a direct connection from The Knickerbocker Hotel to the newly built subway station back in 1906. The tunnel used to go underneath 42nd Street and lead to the grand lobby, a perfect perk for the social elite.
The man who built this beux-arts hotel was John Jacob Astor IV, one of the richest men in America at the time, and also a victim of the Titanic tragedy in 1912.
You can still find the doorway and the original sign in the subway station. Here's how!
