In this special report from Rome, Michael Matt shouts the words of Pius XI into the night sky over the streets of the Vatican – words that anathemized the Synod on Synodality over 90 years ago.

It was part of Michael’s informal discussion of the ecumenical engine that drives the Synod on Synodality – an engine which was condemned many times by Francis’s predecessors but most specifically by Mortalium Animos in 1928.

No wonder the Synod Fathers and “Mothers” never talk about anything the Church taught before Vatican II. They can’t, because that teaching condemns Francis’s entire Synodal misadventure.
