Bananas Slippery Slope To Extinction, Will the Fruit Disappear?
X
Bananas have been the favourite snack of humans for years now. These potassium-rich fruits are now facing a fruity doomsday. A virus called the "Panama Disease" has been threatening their lives. This fungus disables the banana tree's ability to soak water. From its first discovery in Taiwan in '89, this banana serial killer has invaded Australia, China, and India. The virus has now hit South America and can spread across the globe. It is attacking the most commonly consumed bananas called "Cavendish". Scientists are working to create a banana vaccine so that the bananas can be saved.
