What would be the need for a bakery at an advanced space company? Do they want the bakery to make French croissants for their hardworking employees? However, not this kind of bakery is where the most important components of SpaceX’s thermal protection systems are produced. That is to say, this is the location where SpaceX manufactures its heat shield tiles. We know that it has been operating from Cape Canaveral, Florida since 2019 after there had been rumors floating around for years about its location. At first, it was just a buzz on a few forums, and then a few pictures of trucks outside the SpaceX facility emerged. Despite the huge secrecy surrounding the facility, it looks like a fairly regular warehouse from the outside, except for the external chemical and piping installations. Inside, however, workers are assembling heat shield tiles that will make up the most advanced rocket ever built.
