Among his accomplishments was to create a private postal service, which was successful enough to force the government to reduce its own price of postage stamps to compete. Which, unsurprisingly, enraged the government so much that it lawfared his business into bankruptcy. That was in the 1840s. This tactic of lawfare is hardly new...
