Why do/should we support Israel?

I hate getting involved in foreign conflict. You probably ask yourself "why should we get involved in another foreign war? This will explain why we should be involved in Israel. Maybe we shouldn't commit troops, but they deserve a portion of our resources. Otherwise, they will literally be wiped from the face of the earth.
