‘Don’t do it’: US Secretary of State responds to Iran militia threats

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has made a surprise visit to Iraq.

It is his second visit to the region since the start of the conflict.

He spoke a short time ago after his meeting with the country's Prime Minister.

Mr Blinken said, “it was very important to send a very clear message to anyone who might seek to take advantage of the conflict in Gaza – to threaten our personnel.”

“Don’t do it,” he said.

“I made very clear that the attacks, the threats coming from militia that are aligned with Iran are totally unacceptable and we will take every necessary step to protect our people.”
