The History of Babylon — Mystery Babylon series

It is frequently claimed that prophetic Babylon in Revelation 17 and 18 will be the literal, historical city of Babylon restored and glorified to become the most powerful city on the planet. This position is taken on the belief that Babylon was never destroyed according to the prophecies in Jeremiah 50-51, and therefore it must be restored so it can be destroyed. But this understanding runs contrary to the testimony of history. From the rise of the Parthian empire to the present day, the ancient city of Babylon has been a ghost town, for most of that time buried under the sands.
