Seven Pointer 2023

This season has been full of ups & downs, if you watched my video “Hell No, Not Again”, then you know I hit caught the edge of a tree and missed a beautiful 2.5 year old eight point buck on 10/9/23, then I had another different 2.5 year old eight point sneak up on me last week at my trail crossing, but from my Southwest wind stand there is a line of trees, and that must be where he snuck up from. He just appeared at 22 yards, I was so flustered that I didn’t move slowly, even though it was windy out, and he caught my movement. With just over a week left in the early 2023 bow season, Thursday 11/9/23, I decided to sit in one of my three cedar stands, & yes it is legal to bait here in my area of Wisconsin, and I do at two different cedar stands to help keep deer in the area especially as natural food sources become more scarce at this time of the season. The wind was from the west at 20 mph, with gusts to 45 mph, I got in the stand at 12:30, at 1:30 two doe fawns came in, at 3:00 a nubby buck fawn came to visit, at 3:30 a doe and her two fawns, another nubby buck and a doe fawn came in for quite a while and ate all but three of the apples I had. Just before 4:30 I heard some noise to my left, and just like that this buck shows up, I thought hmm I really can’t turn down such a perfect chance broadside at 15 yards, I already had both cameras running thanks to the fact that I now use external batteries with a cable, (something I figured out last week), and I also already had my release connected, so I was ready.
