Dog Haunts Daytona Beach

Brownie the town dog was born in 1939. He was a stray that the local downtown owners took care of. He even had his own bank account that was built on donations to help pay for his needs. The local fire department built him a doghouse. His favorite foods were steak and ice cream. He died in 1954. A memorial was put in his honor and in recent years a statue has been erected.. Animals were not allowed to be buried downtown, so the mayor made an exception for one day. Brownie's spirit still lingers in the area as many people has said the have heard a dog bark, tail brush upon them or seen his ghost.
