Does Drinking Ozonated Water Damage the Gut Biome? There are two main reasons why this is highly unlikely:

1. The small intestine in a healthy human being is supposed to be very poor in bacteria. The digestion which takes place in the small intestine is based on enzymes, not bacteria. All the good bacteria reside in the large intestine. But when we drink ozonated water it goes into the small, not the large intestine. There are two mechanisms which make sure that there are as few bacteria in the small intestine as possible: the extreme acidity of our stomach and the ileocecal valve. The presence of bacteria in the small intestine is a medical condition called SIBO, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.

2. In order for the ozonated water to reach the large intestine it would have to travel through the entire length of the small intestine, so 22 to 25 feet which are filled with gastric juices, secretions and chyme. Even if someone drank enough ozonated water for it to reach the large intestine it is unlikely that the water would contain any ozone at that point.
