Hefty Wild Turkey Flock Takes To Trees - Roosting At Altitude - Meleagris gallopavo

Yet again: I know flocks are common in even some urban areas out there but have rarely seen myself. And these are more wild, not accustomed to human activity. But now this flock has been hanging around the last 3 days, ignoring me and my noise as just part of the scenery. (A rare pocket of safety surrounded by miles of open hunting, I might add).
I read that they roosted in trees. By nightfall they had wandered out of sight. Were not on my mind when I heard a couple LOUD branch breaks from the back of the cabin. NOT twigs. NOT like a cow (all of which were across the creek in clear view). A deer or elk didn't seem right somehow. Red Alert! Was thinking BEAR (or Bigfoot). Nope. Flock setting in for night. Up HIGH.
Somehow "roosting in trees" suggested low branches among the brush, not freak'n 30+ FEET up. Or more! Wilds fly better than domestics but not witnessing their actual movement up there was regrettable. No leaves highlights things but damn, they are so BIG. A dozen scattered about three trees ... had I seen that on a hike I PROBABLY would figure it out but only after I had turned and ran at least a quarter mile. Repeat: new to me. That image will stay for awhile!
