In this free video drum lesson, I want to teach you how to play the main drum beat from the song "Take Five" by Dave Brubeck, featuring the legendary Joe Morello on drums.

Not only is the song in a Jazz setting, so plenty of improvisation, but it's also in the time signature of 5/4...showcasing Joe Morello amazing ability to swing in an odd time signature.

For this lesson I show you the most common drum beat from the song as well as a more basic and beginner friendly version as well. I then perform the first four bars of the song to demonstrate just how much improvisation Joe is able to perform!
