Most Useful Mechanical Engineering Branches & Subfields

Mechanical Engineering is arguably one of the most generic types of engineering and, for this reason, is one of the most difficult engineering majors. Because it is so generic, the majority of school offer concentrations, which allow students to focus on a specific area of mechanical engineering. Does concentrating in a specific subfield/branch hurt your chances of getting a job after graduation?
