X (formerly Twitter) is now charging two countries; The Philippines and New Zealand for new users who create accounts as of October 17, 2023 $1 USD monthly for key features such as tweeting, replying, retweeting and likes. The accounts who don't pay will only get the regular features read posts, watch videos, and follow accounts.
Those in these two countries who already have existing accounts are not affected.

X claims that this is a way to fight bots and spammers sharing posts.
There is also a feature called X Premium in USA for $8 monthly. Those who have the subscription will be able to make longer posts and increased visibility on the platform.
Inactive accounts will be deleted according to Elon Musk.
Though most bot and spam accounts are being sent from places like India trying to imitate popular people like Jimmy Donaldson from MrBeast trying to get money or private information. Also the fact that Jimmy did a deal with the online selling website Shopify.com, and bots and spammers are after users on X.
Crypto ads are frequent online, which makes it dangerous for people who want to invest in Bitcoin and crypto coin.
