Napoleon is NOT the movie we deserved. Ridley Scott and Joaquin Phoenix delivered us a charmless version of Napoleon Bonaparte who gets cucked by everything in his life. By ignoring Napoleon's charismatic personality and his military & political accomplishments, and focusing on all the times his wife Josephine cheated on him and the few times he was outmaneuvered on the battlefield, this movie is an intentional attempt by an English filmmaker at historical revisionism. At least Ridley Scott admitted that he didn't consult any historical experts before making this movie. Just consume your Napoleon-hating gray slop, you loyal subject of the crown! And on top of all that, the story was little more than an incoherent, bland PowerPoint presentation! Ridley Scott wanted to take down the Great Man theory but he chose a HORRIBLE target to try it with as Napoleon was one of the few truly influential man that wielded great power.
