C8 Z06 Oil Change - Real World Experience

It's EASY changing the Z06 engine OIL!!! Follow the procedure and you will be fine as frog hair. I give you my experience mainly to give you a few points of interest. Also, at the end I add how I used QuickJacks from my friend Bryan or Yellow Jacket Garage.

Z06 Specific Oil Change Procedure
Steps:
1. Open top side engine compartment and locate the oil fill and dip stick.
a. For the HTC put the convertible body panel in the service position.
2. Bring the car up to running temperature – about 150 to 175 degrees F.
3. While the oil is still warm, raise the car.
4. Drain the oil:
a. With the 15 mm socket remove the engine oil plug. Use caution with the warm oil.
b. Remove the old oil reservoir plug with a 3/8” drive extension.
i. Push up & turn ¼ turn to remove.
ii. It may get slightly stuck. May be needle nose plyers to gently remove.
iii. Allow oil to drain completely.
c. Push up and with ¼ turn to insert the new reservoir plug.
i. You will feel it stop in place.
ii. Insure it is snug.
5. Install engine oil plug and oil filter:
a. Inspect the engine plug for any damage.
b. Reinstall the engine plug. Tighten to 18 ft-lbs with the 15 mm socket.
c. Remove the oil filter cap using the 32 mm socket.
d. Use the new O-ring on the oil cap and wet with oil before re-using.
e. Spin out the old oil filter or pop it out.
f. Pop or push in the new oil filter.
g. Install the oil filter cap and tighten to 18 ft-lbs.
6. Add new oil to engine:
a. Lower the car.
b. Pour in 7.5 qrts of oil.
c. Start the engine and let it warm up to running temp or about 175 degrees F.
d. Check for leaks under that car.
e. Check the fill level with the dip stick.
f. Add more oil as needed with the level as close to completely full as possible using the last .5 qrt.
