Welcome to another One World Flyer journey. This time, I flew on Cathay Pacific CX173 from Hong Kong (HKG) to Adelaide (ADL), Australia in business class. I also flew another round as well, see the link below… The flight itself was good, tasty food and comfy seat. The arrival time though made the trip not-so-good, we arrived 5 am in the morning. I then had to still awake for the whole day and prepare for school in the next day. Cathay Pacific used to fly to Adelaide daily via Melbourne. In 2014, they changed it to five weekly non-stop flights. In 2016, they increased one flight per week, making it five weekly flights. Most passengers will have a connection flight onwards to London Heathrow, USA and elsewhere in Asia. CX173 is a code-share flight with Qatar Airways, Finnair and British Airways. Although you don’t see many Cathay Pacific in Adelaide, you’ll see twenty-eight flights per week in Sydney (SYD) including fourteen B777-300ER. Moreover, you’ll see twenty-one flight per week in Melbourne. B777-300ER and A350-900 will serve Melbourne from next year!!! Overall, Oneworld Alliance (Qantas and Cathay Pacific) operate more than 90 flights per week between Australia and Hong Kong.
