The day was June 22, 2023, just after 4 p.m., when the quiet was abruptly broken by two distress calls. One came from a woman in obvious despair, screaming, "My babies had been shot". The other, from a passerby, who reported a chilling sight — a young girl running down the road, shrieking that "her father was killing everyone"​​.

The source of this terror? A home about 25 miles southwest of Cincinnati. Responding deputies arrived to find a haunting scene — Doerman, sitting calmly on a step outside the house, the abode that had just been transformed into a slaughterhouse​.

In the yard of the home, lifeless on the grass, were three young boys. They were Doerman's sons, aged 3, 4, and 7. Paramedics rushed to the scene, performing life-saving measures in an attempt to defy fate, but it was to no avail. The boys had been shot, and were dead on the spot​.

The mother of the boys, a 34-year-old woman, had also been shot in the hand. She was found outside the house, a survivor amidst the carnage, and was transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati. The news of her sons' demise was broken to her at the hospital, a crushing blow on top of the physical pain she had already endured​​.

Authorities found no signs of forced entry into the house. No other suspects were being sought. It was clear that this was a crime of unimaginable cruelty, committed by a man against his own family​​.

According to the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office, the details were even more horrifying. Doerman had planned the murder of his sons meticulously. In an incomprehensible act of cruelty, he had lined up his sons and executed them with a rifle. One of the boys had managed to escape into a nearby field, but his father had hunted him down, dragged him back to the property, and executed him in front of witnesses.

Court documents revealed that Doerman had confessed to planning and carrying out the deaths of his sons for several months. His bond was set at a whopping $20 million, the highest that the prosecutors had ever requested​​.

The trauma extended beyond the immediate family, rippling through the local community. The local school district released a statement expressing their sorrow and announced the availability of grief counselors at Monroe Elementary School​.
