Borderlines can't meet their own emotional needs and they use you (person closest to them, partner etc.) to unconsciously seek identity through you in attempts to emotionally regulate. People with BPD, again, unconsciously, use a person closest (favorite person too) and experience you as the "object other parent representation of good or bad parent or alternatingly each. You are not seen and heard.

People with BPD are using you and all relationships to seek a reparation to their early arrested emotional development caused by adverse childhood experience and often a lack of attunement and bonding in infancy. They do not do this consciously.
