Thailand Pass: Land border opening, plans for no Quarantine, and More

14 February 2022:
1) During 1 – 13 February 2022, 78,793 travelers entered Thailand, 39,277 travelers continued to enter via the Test and Go, or Quarantine Exemption Scheme. 33,550 entered via the Sandbox scheme, and 5,966 entered with alternative quarantine. Among the total number of travelers, 2,351 or 2.98% tested positive for COVID-19. The majority of international travelers come from these top ten countries of origin during 1-13 February 2022, namely, Russia, Germany, the UK, France, Singapore, UAE, Austria, Kazakhstan, Sweden and Israel.
2) Bang Sue Central Vaccination Center has announced that it would provide three types of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for a booster dose (third and fourth dose) as follows:
- intramuscular (muscle injection) at 30 mcg per dose,
- intramuscular at 15 mcg per dose,
- intradermal (outer layers of the skin) at 10 mcg per dose.
3) According to studies in Thailand and abroad, a half dose of intramuscular injection and intradermal injection has the same effectiveness as a full dose of intramuscular injection but will have fewer side effect symptoms but more pain at the vaccinated spot. Those who wish to get a half dose of intramuscular or intradermal vaccine should register with the Bang Sue Central Vaccination Center and inform the officer at entrance 2 on the vaccination day.
4) The government is planning to reopen the Thai-Malaysia border next month to stimulate tourism and the economy in the deep southern provinces. The Prime Minister has ordered the CCSA and the tourism and sports emergency operation centre to prepare and outline pandemic mitigation measures for the reopening of Southern border checkpoints in Songkhla, Yala, Narathiwat and Satun. Following the government's policy to open a travel bubble with Malaysia, tourists from the neighbouring country will be allowed to enter under the Test and Go scheme with no quarantine upon arrival. However, visitors will still need to pass two RT-PCR tests after arriving in Thailand. The CCSA will keep updating on this issue.
