11/29/23 THE MISSISSIPPI BLACK CODES OF 1865

Grand Rising and Good Morning to the Holy Royal Negro Family of Israel!

Today we offer a simple reading of a complex document set upon the State of Mississippi in 1865 known as Black Codes that instituted a fundamental shift against the newly enacted Emancipation Proclamation that supposedly set Negroes free.

As we review these sets of detailed and itemized codes remember that during this time period Negroes were not permitted or able to read.

The affront towards those circumstances in comparison to what was expected from the newly released and unwanted population is a testament of the attitudes towards Negroes and one that hasn't changed over the last century!

As we listen remember that these expectations served as a touchtone for what this country developed into after slavery and into Reconstruction and Jim Crow.
