Covert narcissists volunteer "give to get" and fake altruism for their image and to aggrandize themselves. They often volunteer for causes and things like that too look "like they care" and get attention and supply. In relationships covert narcissists often fake being codependents. In any relationship type the covert narcissist, many hiding behind CPTSD these days too, are the hidden version of the overt narcissist but they do not have as much grandiosity and they have a very fragile ego. They are well protected and often do not fake any emotional landscape very well if they even have one. They are out for empathy and supply like the overt Narcissist. Unlike the overt narcissist, the covert narcissist is even more difficult to spot.
